A Boonville Chrismukah and Christmas!

Dixie and Christmukah Tree, Brooklyn, NY, Dec. 25, 2006
This is the fourth year that Laura and I will spend Chrismukah together (Christmas + Chanukkah). She is flying in on Saturday, so Chrismukah will happen, but it will happen late, and without Dixie. Dixie, pictured above, comes out every holiday season and acts as our Chrismukah mascot. I was having a difficult time finding a gift for Laura that first year, and then I stumbled upon Dixie. It seemed crazy enough to work. And it has. But not without some very weird looks.
As you may have guessed, I'm staying in Boonville, Indiana this holiday season. And I'm having a really great time with the Mauck family! I met Aaron Mauck at Kenny's Bar on the second or third night I was in town. Turns out he used to live in my hometown of Chesterton, Indiana, and knows many of the people I grew up with. He was kind enough to invite me over for Christmas with his parents and sisters. All three sisters were Prom and/or Homecoming Queen, and all three were Valedictorian (Aaron was very close). It is an interesting crowd. And I'm having a great time. Merry Christmas! and a Merry-Happy Chrismukah!

timothy have a card from boonville diner explaining your project. several wekks ago saw your car with weird coincidence of a boonville ny bumpersticler my husband joe pointed it out. probably saw you walking thru their main dining room about 10 days ago with book in hand. thought that was sort of odd for boonville altho i have seen older women reading in there and i sometimes take mags, books, newspaper in to read while i'm waiting. love the chicken soup. my grandson loves maddywould like to know more about him. he's from albinia. it used to be tne most closed off place in the world. now gwbush is even welcomed there. he gived adrian a little toy out of the junk machine by the door. Adrian will cry sometimes if maddy isn't there. We go to boonville when we decide that we need something bad enough to go to walmart.until last xmas there was a salvation army thrift store north of the square. another reason to go as I have a route of stores that i go to looking for books mostl. am a big reader and have a booth in antique mall in O'boro. Was as the SA store shortly before it closed last year and after going out the door had 2nd thoughts and went back. In memory of my dear son who loved so many and loved boonville too i gave the 2 ladies there $20 each. The younger lady works at Scales lake at least i saw her there this last summer. She said she had 4 kids to buy for but she looked like she was barely out of high school. My name is susan young and I live in Richland with family. Some joker that my son knew called boonville , boonvegas. we keep that name going not sure what is signifys probably so not vegas perhaps. good luck with fyour project. By the way what were you reading that day?
Hi Timothy,
My name is John and I manage the Anderson Valley Brewing Company in Boonville, CA. A friend named Lena turned me onto your blog and I thought I would give you an invitation to come check out the brewery and show you around.
Not sure when you will land our way, but here are some auspicious dates:
Feb 2nd is our 20th Anniversary Party
May 3rd is the Boonville Beer Fest
June 20th through the 22nd is the Sierra Nevada Music Festival held at the Boonville Fairgrounds.
So give me a shout at the brewery when you get a chance.
